She is also certified (since 1993) in The Trager Approach and Somatic Movement Re-education. In addition, she has trained in a variety of healing modalities including T’ai Chi, Yoga, meditation techniques, pain neutralization, and aroma therapy. For the past ten years, Kate has worked extensively with the elderly, using gentle approaches to enhance physical and emotional well-being.

She has taught movement re-education and meditation classes, and continues to study advanced mind/body related areas, bringing fresh insight into her work.

Kate combines her knowledge in the above-mentioned modalities to meet the specific needs of the individual. These treatments benefit a variety of conditions including: back and neck pain, headaches, muscle spasms, arthritic and joint pain, fibromyalgia, sports and other injuries and stress and depression.

And because emotional stress is said to “live” in our physical structure in the form of pain, restrictions and illness, these sessions result in far more than just pain relief and greater movement. They include; an experience of peace and serenity, stress reduction, (including better sleep patterns), release of deep-seated physical and emotional holding patterns, improved self-image and increased joy and wellness.

Somatics Movemen

Developed by Dr. Thomas Hanna, it is a series of both table (on a massage table) and floor movements designed to address our sensory-motor systems which continually respond to daily stresses and traumas with specific muscular reflexes. These reflexes, repeatedly triggered, create habitual muscular contractionswhich we cannot voluntarily relax. The table and floor movements provide a direct and effective way to re-program the sensory-motor system.

Therapeutic Massage

Therapeutic Massage has an impressive range of physical, mental and emotional benefits. It reduces stress and helps one to let go of unconsciously held tension. It increases blood and lymph circulation and strengthens the immune system. Regular massage can reduce chronic pain, improve muscle tone, speed the removal of metabolic wastes, lower blood pressure and calm the nervous system. Aromatherapy oils may also be used in the therapeutic quality of the session.

Trager Technique

The Trager Approach, developed by the late Milton Trager, M.D. utilizes gentle movements to the muscles and joints to produce positive sensory feelings which enter the central nervous system, eliticing tissue changes by means of the many sensory-motor feedback loops between the mind and the muscles. These movements facilitate deep relaxation, increase physical mobility and promote the body's optimal performance. The Trager Approach has been successful in treating a variety of conditions including neck and back pain, headaches, muscle spasms, fibromyalgia, sports and other injuries and depression to name a few.
